?dive?

Watching the second goal by Brazil in this world cup match was horrible. The ref appears wrong but once again, the lack of honor in sports blazes . You take a dive and even though you know you were wrong you still accept the wrong call and allow it to go forward. If you weren’t sure and you could see on a screen that it was a mistake the ball could be kicked away. Even if that didn’t occur and a player or a coach that saw that it wasn’t a good could have said something. That’s true honor and sportsmanship. Not this BS that happened. American football and most major tennis events (not the French Open because of the clay) have review ability. Maybe it is time for soccer to join this group since some players and other staff can’t be trusted it seems. Tennis I understand because that tiny ball is moving very fast. American football I can see because inches matter sometimes. Maybe soccer can start with major offences like this PK or when the time will stop or even red cards. The quick stops are too fast to really challenge in a sport that doesn’t stop like American football. We are human. We make mistakes. But let the true play hold not the mistake by human choice.

My two pennies.

Place Review: Broken Bottle Brewery

I’ve been here in the past for Geeks Who Drink and enjoyed what I had at the time. They are a microbrewery. I also remember being embarrassed when someone in the group asked for a miller.

I’m back today because I’ve got some writing to do. Works as a reason to me. I had a Drunken Hobo Milk Stout at 8.3% ABV and the Warm Pretzels with queso and a side of mustard. I’m partial to the milk stouts. I like Left Hand’s Milk Stout also. I also like pretzels. Even with a partial lactose intolerance the queso is a must. The stout is good and while the pretzel became cold because I spent time writing and watching a UFC fight on the TV instead of eating, I continued eating it because it was tasty.

Come enjoy a good brew and pretzel if you are so inclined. They didn’t have food before but do now. Basic fare but I plan to come back to try something else (the Stinky Pink looks good based on grapefruit) while I work on more writing. Not a bad location to sit and ponder as I spill out letters onto the page.

Time to finish my food and drink and head back to some home projects to work on.

Moving sites – follow up

After some time, the site came up. I started working on it and then it went down again. As I was told 24-48h I put things down and tried again the next day. After not being able to log in, I called name.com again. There were problems  of course but with godaddy. Somehow the nameservers reverted back off name.com and back onto godaddy. I rechanged those and just had to wait until they propogated. It’s up and running now. Just need to import and get things cleaned up and I’m back in business. I do wish the media area was more refined. Instead of showing all the pictures I wish I could have things in folders or something like that.

Moving sites

As I’ve been trying to make a move from the wordpress.com to something else, I had way too much time looking over options. Not wanting to spend a lot of time managing as well as being scared about security threats and whatnot I’m trying (not I’ve gone to) Rapidpress on name.com. So far I have to say it’s been a pretty up and down experience. I talked to someone about a week ago on the site and he was great. Very knowledgeable and answered everything I thought I needed to know. Continue reading

imagination

Can the imagination truly be a flight of ideas or is it a byproduct of an experiential base? Where does the idea of a flying car come from if you have no vehicle, chariot or the first ford?

The imagination is sparked by something that causes the leap into a fantastical idea that seems to have no bounds.

As i sit on the airplane and at times gaze out the window (from the aisle) i see the clouds and with a past filled with my experiences i see the rabbits and snakes and mountain tops and other objects my mind shows me as it tries to make sense of what it is beholding. Continue reading

Long time no write…

It’s been over a month now since I’ve written online (still writing in my journal) for one main reason.

I’ve been researching self-hosted vs a managed host for wordpress or just staying put. I recognize that I can over research information and this is one of those cases. I’ve had ideas for things I want to write about and while that isn’t an issue, putting media into a post has seemed like it would be tricky to move over to another site. Continue reading

Milestones

A milestone is a physical marker showing the distance between two points.

It’s also used as a physical marker that can be a reference point.

These physical markers were used in times past to help the romans and other civilizations find their way and guide others.

Nowadays we have those posts on the highways showing… that’s right… the distance between one mile and another. The bigger ones can help you when you need to fill up on gasoline or find a place to crash for the night. Continue reading

musical ignorance?

I like music. Who doesn’t? For myself almost any type is fine as i’m generally not too picky. Some types i will listen to if it’s on but not tune to it on my own.

This past weekend i went to a nice concert by the local philharmonic. Three different pieces. Prokofiev: Overture on Hebrew Themes, Walton: Viola Concerto, and Dvořák: Symphony No. 8. Two before intermission and one after. All of them were enjoyable, more so with the help of the preconcert lecture from the conductor. For anyone that hasn’t gone to a preconcert lecture, it would be analogous to the ‘making of’ for a movie. The extra information can help enhance the viewing experience with a greater appreciation and understanding. Continue reading

“My fault”

Instead of a monday morning edition, I’m going to try and start my sunday evening (word)press. I think it will help me to be more on top of writing…

A random, but similar, connection of events was the spark.

We have the Winter Olympics in Sochi this year. Ideally the top in the world, the cream of the crop, pushing the limits of safety to take the gold and the international acclaim until the next Olympics.

I have also started my spring tennis USTA men’s 3.0 practice.

As well for my own reasons I was reading about the history of cricket. Continue reading
