icloud photos delete hint

If you’re like me and you’ve found yourself with photos in icloud and you want to delete them, apple doesn’t make it easy. They really seem to want to make you click one by one to get rid of them using the ctrl or command-click. And if you mess up and click off a photo, you have to start over. There isn’t a shift click method or a select all method. I would say this is cause you to end up in depression about clicking hundreds or thousands of photos one by one to delete and just suck it up and pay for more storage. I think apple would say it’s a design feature so you don’t inadvertently delete the photos by accident.

However, I have found a faster way, if not a complete way. On the right side of the screen when you are looking at the photos, you’ll see the share button next to a group of photos. Click on that. It’ll ask where you want to share them. Don’t click (unless you do want to share them). But you’ll see that the photos are ALL selected in that group. Now just click on the trashcan and poof. Photos gone. Repeat for each group that needs deleting and you’ll be done quicker than selecting one by one.

precheck

tsa to be specific.

these pictures uploaded i think they will show, but not as well as the picture i tried to take, that it can be worth the small amount of time and money, if you fly enough, to warrant getting tsa precheck or global entry. if my information is still valid, the canadian system of nexus is really prime since it is cheaper and gets you global entry and precheck. but global entry i don’t think gets you nexus.

these pictures should show the ridiculously short tsa line. and at this airport i admit usually the precheck line is closed. maybe i’ve been taking the wrong flights. you can’t appreciate just how long the regular line extends back unless it’s clearer on a bigger screen.

a geeky project

i installed a hue light strip and that left my light bar empty. so i set up a geeky project. on the specific day of the week, the bulb at that position will light up in the morning for a few hours. this way even half asleep i can look up and with a little counting i know what day it is. i will probably just add day of the week tags under the lights to make it easier but it also makes people try and figure it out so i might leave it as is.

for anyone who’s thinking the questions…

the thing on the far right is my Alexa named echo. and the last bulb slot hasn’t been assigned but i’m thinking of a color changing bulb that will change based on the weather forecast or the temperature outside. i think temperature outside will be more useful.

followup

It was interesting on the deplaning to see the number of bags that were similar and sometimes even slightly larger than my own that were allowed on and did not have to be checked. Poor job american airlines.

#firstworldproblems

It bothers me when a flight attendant automatically assumes that my bag isn’t going to fit overhead. If i’ve flown a route a lot AND i’ve taken a picture that shows my bag does fit overhead and they just are obstinate about making me gate check it, i find it annoying. She wouldn’t even bother to look at the picture. When her voice escalated i backed down immediately. No reason to get thrown off a plane this early in the morning. If there is plenty of time, how about letting me pass or fail? And then talking about it right near where i’m sitting is crappy customer service. #firstworldproblems #americaneagle #americanairlines

Pizza review

I was on my way from an errand and happened to notice a small pizza place. Like I happened to see a sign that said Sal-E-Boy’s Pizzeria and it was nearly hidden between two larger buildings. I thought I knew a lot of pizza places in town so I was shocked to see how this one escaped me. I figured they were a new place so I stop by. My shock increased when I found out they have been open over 30 years, according to the person at the counter. They don’t deliver and it is takeout only. Not really any space to sit inside eat, just seats there to sit if you want to wait for your pie.

505 in the 808

The other day I went to an Indian food truck two days in a row just to try out some new items. I’m still of the same opinion that while I enjoyed the food, the price point was higher than what I think is good, even factoring in the paradise tax.

To continue the theme of trying out new things, I had been made aware of a New Mexican food truck that would be in the Lowe’s parking lot on Sunday. They are called Uncle Claude’s New Mexican Grindz. From their facebook page it looks like they are based out of Waikoloa. Someone I know had tried it already and recommended I add it to my to-eat list.

A quick post

Last year I came across an issue with a word that kept getting replaced by the auto correct. It was bothering me so much that I had to look up the word to see why it was being changed. Today for some reason it came back into my mind and now I want to challenge you to look it up yourself. It’s a common word that we use very frequently. But now you’ll understand where it came from, what it means, and I will wonder if you question it like myself if you should keep using the word. Continue reading

Indian foodtruck review

I like food. I like indian food. So when people started asking me my advice on a new indian food truck ( @Swamisdosagrill ) both myself and the person asking me were shocked that I hadn’t known and tried the food yet. After multiple people approached me for my opinion I decided it was time I make a trek and try it out… for science of course. Continue reading
